Every Whimble Wood piece is made just for you. Here's how the personalisation process works.
How personalisation works
Choose your character
Pick one of our eight woodland friends — our characters are available across a growing range of Whimble Wood keepsakes. Not sure who to choose? Head to the Meet the Characters page and find the one that feels right for your little one.
Enter your personalisation
Add the name or text you'd like on your piece. We'll show you the character limit for each product on the product page — most name plaques hold up to 12 characters comfortably, though we can sometimes accommodate longer names with a slightly smaller font size.
We make it by hand
Once your order is placed, we get to work. Each piece is laser-cut and engraved from birch plywood, assembled and finished by hand, then polished with natural beeswax before we package it up. Standard production takes 3–5 working days, after which we'll dispatch your order. During peak periods this may extend to 7–10 working days.
Character limits by product
Each product has a recommended character limit to ensure your personalisation looks its best. We'll always let you know on the product page, but here's a general guide.
Engraving style
Your personalisation is laser-engraved into the wood. We offer a choice of engraving styles — let us know your preference when you order, or we'll choose the style that suits your piece best.
Woodland Script
Our most popular style. A flowing, rounded script that feels warm and storybook-like. Recommended for name plaques and keepsake boxes.
Best for: Name plaques, keepsake boxes
Forest Print
A clean, friendly uppercase print. Easier to read at a glance and works beautifully on smaller pieces where script can be harder to read.
Best for: Hanging decorations, night lights
Meadow Caps
A charming mix of upper and lowercase with slightly uneven letterforms — playful and informal. Perfect for a relaxed, friendly feel.

Personalised items and returns
Because every piece is made specifically for you, we're unable to accept returns or exchanges on personalised items unless they arrive damaged or with an error on our part.
Damaged on arrival
If your order arrives damaged, please photograph it and contact us within 48 hours of delivery. We'll arrange a replacement or refund as quickly as possible.
Error on our part
If we've made a mistake with your personalisation — a spelling error, wrong character, or wrong font — we'll remake your order at no cost and dispatch it as a priority. Please contact us within 7 days of receiving your order.
Spelling errors in your submission
We reproduce the personalisation exactly as you provide it. We're unable to offer refunds or replacements for errors that were present in your original submission.
Change of mind
We're unable to offer refunds or exchanges for personalised items where you've simply changed your mind, as these pieces cannot be resold. If you have concerns before placing your order, please get in touch and we'll do our best to help.
