The story behind the woodland
Every piece that leaves our workshop carries a little piece of us with it. Here's how Whimble Wood came to be.
A family affair
Whimble Wood is a small, family-run business based in Yorkshire. Our little woodland team is Emma (Mum), Josh (Son), Lacey (Daughter), Frankie—the youngest member of our family tribe, and Dolly, our crazy Cocker Spaniel. Together, we create and send each special keepsake with care, from our family to yours.
The woodland took shape
Whimble Wood began with a love of family, storytelling and the magic of the woodland. Lacey brings our little world to life by sketching each character, giving them their own personality and charm. Together, our family turns her drawings into meaningful keepsakes, lovingly made for your family to treasure.
Trixie Mouse arrived first, then Arthur Rabbit, then the others — one by one, each one has been sketched, refined over dozens of versions, until they felt just right. They're not just decorations. They're characters. And every family that chooses one gets to make them part of their own story.
Handmade, always
Each piece begins with our own original artwork before being carefully laser-cut and engraved from birch plywood. Our characters are applied in colour, each piece is assembled and finished by hand, then polished with natural beeswax before packaging.
We're a small team, and we intend to stay that way. Every order gets our full attention. Every product is made with care. We take the time because we know these pieces will sit on nursery shelves for years, and eventually find their way into memory boxes and attic trunks — kept, not discarded.
What's coming
Our first full collection is now live — name plaques, keepsake boxes, milestone discs, birth announcements, pregnancy announcements, hanging decorations, and seasonal pieces, all featuring our cast of woodland characters.
We can't wait to welcome you into the wood.
What we believe in
Made by hand
Every piece is laser-cut, engraved, assembled, and finished by hand in our UK workshop. No shortcuts.
Made to last
We use carefully selected birch plywood and natural beeswax finishes. These are heirlooms, not throwaway gifts.
Made for your family
Every order is personalised. Your child's name, your chosen character, your family's story.
Made with care
Small batch, slow made. We'd rather do fewer things beautifully than many things quickly.
